Tuck Me In

When my father died in 1987 I was 13 years old at boarding school in England. My sense of isolation and loneliness was profound.

I created this quilt from my french mother’s prized collection of vintage 'papiers d’agrumes’ that she had amassed as a teenager in France.*

The fabric on the underside (unseen side) of the quilt is my old Laura Ashley duvet cover that I had at boarding school as well as at home.

The light shining above is a replica of the soft toy ‘seal’, which provided a great source of comfort to me at the time.
