Stay Gold

These are my fathers earliest school reports from the 1950s. It’s thrilling and poignant to pierce through a vintage material that holds great meaning.

 

Gold nanoparticles are used in the treatment and diagnosis of cancer.When bound to gold, the cancer cells scatter light, making it very easy to identify the non cancerous cells from the malignant ones.*

My dad died from cancer in 1987, well before nanotechnology was developed.

 

How brilliant that such magical technologies now exist. #lovescience
